It has been several months since HTC released it flagship smartphone, the HTC One M8, and fans are growing restless waiting for word about its successor. However, rumors on the Internet have begun to circulate tech forums about an HTC One M9 as of late.
As it stands, there is no news from the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer regarding the release date of the HTC One M9. However, the company has set a precedent to release its flagship smartphones in Spring, just a few weeks following the MWC.
As next year's MWC will be taking place between March 3 and March 5, fans might receive an announcement regarding the release of the upcoming HTC smartphone either during the show or shortly afterwards. This rumor is gaining ground as tipster @evleaks recently wrote, "Slated for a first quarter 2015 launch, the HTC M9 and HTC M9 Prime will be the next full refreshes of the One Mx family"
While it is too early to post anything regarding the purported specs of the HTC One M9, one thing is for certain, and that is that it will be more powerful than the HTC One M8.
It is expected that the upcoming smartphone will be packed with either a six-core Snapdragon 808 or an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor. In addition, it is also likely to run Android L, as Google's latest mobile operating system will possibly be available by the end of 2014. The HTC One M9 may also increase the RAM above the 2GB, since that is no longer so high-end.
According to the latest rumors, the camera of HTC One M9 may have an optical zoom. Currently, only the Galaxy Zoom range offers it.
The absence of an optical zoom in other smartphones is possibly owing to the fact that a lens like that takes up more space, which makes it difficult to keep the phone slim, despite the significantly improved photographic capabilities.
